IUCN North America Regional Office is seeking a Program and Communications Intern to start in September 2025 for a period of six months to support the activities of the IUCN North America Regional Office (IUCN NARO).

The Intern will contribute to two core areas of work:
1) Supporting IUCN NARO Communications, and
2) Supporting IUCN US and Canada Member services administration and coordination.

1) Supporting IUCN NARO Communications

The IUCN North America Regional Office has occasional communications and content needs that the Program Intern will support.

These include, but are not limited to:

-Publishing Member news and events on the website of the IUCN US National Committee (WordPress, website for US Members);
-Updating and publishing articles and content on the North America Regional pages of the IUCN website (Drupal).
-Publishing materials on the IUCN US Fund website (WordPress);
-Publishing social media content (LinkedIn).
-Supporting the IUCN NARO Regional Director, Philanthropy Advisor, and Member Focal Point as necessary with occasional communications needs.
-Supporting email and newsletter updates for IUCN US Fund donors

2) Supporting IUCN US and Canada Member services administration and coordination:

The Intern will provide support to the IUCN NARO Membership Liaison to provide critical Member services, maintain Member databases, and support communications with IUCN Members in the United States and Canada. This support could include:

-Member database research and maintenance;
-Support in managing Member inquiries and applications.

In addition, the Intern will be involved in supporting UCN Members in the United States and Canada as they coordinate in advance of the 2025 World Conservation Congress in October 2025 and support Member collaborations post-2025 Congress. To facilitate collaboration between Members, IUCN NARO seeks to create and sustain a new initiative of thematic working groups of IUCN Members. These themes may include but are not limited to: 30x30 Conservation Action, Nature Crime, Landscape Connectivity, Education, Youth, Human Rights and Climate Change, and more.

These thematic groups will serve a variety of functions throughout the year. These functions may include supporting Members on joint areas of work and joint funding proposals, coordinating Member planning around thematic areas to implement IUCN Resolutions, and more.

The Intern will provide communications support for thematic groups and serve as liaison between IUCN NARO and the thematic groups.

The Intern’s role may include:

-Maintaining a database of working group members and Leads;
-Supporting communications efforts to IUCN Members about the work of the groups;
-Supporting groups to schedule meetings;
-Responding to inquiries from IUCN Members regarding the thematic work and engagement.

This is a paid, part-time internship with $750 per month stipend (20 hours per week)
