Friends of Beach Haven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the parks, public spaces, and community life of Beach Haven, NJ. Our professionally-led team works to preserve the town’s beauty, celebrate its heritage, and bring people together through meaningful initiatives. Position Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented, enthusiastic College Intern to support the development of the Beach Haven Heritage Trail. This role offers hands-on experience in research, public history, community engagement, and nonprofit operations. The internship is hybrid/remote with flexible hours—perfect for students who live near Long Beach Island or have family in the area.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research on historic sites, buildings, and events in Beach Haven
- Gather and organize archival materials, images, and documents
- Catalog materials using Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Photos)
- Assist with editing and preparing written materials
- Communicate with team members, collaborators, and local historians
- Support social media content creation and outreach activities
Qualifications
- Current college student (all majors welcome)
- Interest in history, architecture, or historic preservation
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Willingness to attend virtual meetings and periodic in-person meetings in Beach Haven, NJ
Time Commitment & Compensation
- 2–5 hrs/week during Jan–Mar, Apr–Jun, Sept–Dec
- Expanded hours available during spring break and summer 2026
- $1,000 stipend
- Eligible for internship credit or documented nonprofit volunteer hours
